News story - For the month of May, Paws brand pet food will help give back to the animals that need the most attention. One percent of all Paws brand products that are sold in Lowes Foods stores will be donated to local Humane Societies. In addition, Lowes Foods will donate additional funds based on a Facebook promotion encouraging fans to participate.

Paws is a quality brand pet food that is sold in Lowes Foods stores. They are equivalent to a national brand at lower prices with over 35 varieties of dry and wet food, treats, toys and accessories. Paws premium formulas provide pets with a healthy diet and well-balanced nutrition.

One percent of all Paws pet foods, toys and accessories purchased in the month of May will be donated to humane societies in the area, including Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Raleigh and Wilmington. We're humans not just names on a list

This is a rant blog entry - yes, I am thankful to live in this country and have access to adequate medical care. However, in my opinion, some of these "medical assistants" leave much to be desired in the realm of sensitivity...let me back up a bit.

When I was 12, my mother noticed a mole on my back that slowly began to change. Our family doctor said it was 'nothing.' Skip forward to age 16 when I go to a free skin screening by a dermatologist who removes said mole. It contains "atypical" or pre-cancerous cells...so if it hadn't been removed, it would have turned into malignant melanoma...pretty scary stuff, especially for a teenager to hear. They removed surrounding tissue, no atypical cells had spread beyond the mole, so all was clear and I was fine (thank goodness). Since then, I have been going for yearly skin screenings at a dermatologist.

This particular year, on a Wednesday, my dermatologist sites one mole to remove and I point out another that I had been watching. He doesn't think it's anything but says he'll remove it so it won't bother me anymore. He ends up removing a total of three moles. I'm left with a sheet on cleaning instructions and a number to call for the biopsy results.

Skip to Monday 5:15pm -I had missed a call (something I greatly regret now!)check my cell phone and have a message from the medical assistant at the dermatologist. Generally, they won't call you unless there's something abnormal/wrong/important...so I was a bit taken back. I listen to the non-chalant message "Good afternoon, this is ** at ^^ Dermatology, we're closed now but you can call us in the morning."

Ok...so they wait to call until after hours when you cannot call them back and they have at the very least semi-important information for you. That doesn't sit well with my personality type...I still try to relax and wait it out, thinking I can at least call in the morning. I call as soon as they open and get the message that all medical assistants are busy with patients and usually make their calls at lunch or after hours... ARGHHH!!

I understand that there are patients, schedules and paperwork...but I just wish they could find another way to practice that gentle art of sensitivity...to think about how a patient may feel waiting to hear back about test results. Sadly, it appears that in the medical field, we're all just names on a list to examine, diagnose and treat...then on to the next with little thought to how someone may feel having to wait on important health information.

For years now, people have found one reason or another to make fun of Jessica Simpson. Whether she was talking about "Chicken of the Sea," getting a divorce, gaining weight or supposedly 'ruining' Tony Romo's career, people have always been quick to jump on the bandwagon to tease, ridicule and jest at her expense.

I have never been what one would consider a particular "fan" of her's...I think she is very talented, but I don't own her CD's.

Apparently, the latest fodder for those who like to "tease," is for Jessica holding out hope that her Maltipoo "Daisy" is still alive after being taken by a coyote. Okay...maybe it's not completely realistic but who can blame her? When you're in the situation, you may not want to face facts -- I'm an animal lover (particular dogs) so I can see where she's coming from...she simply commented, "Still holding out hope despite the a--holes that say is it a dumb thing to do. Daisy is my baby ... why would I stop searching? I'm a mom." My sentiments exactly.

My thoughts and prayers go to the families of the victims as well as the families of the troops who have been fighting in Iraq.

What a great and refreshing story to hear! For months (daresay the past year), magazine and newspaper articles have been filled with all of the negative economic statistics...and everyone is quick to blame the Obama Administration and continually insult the "stimulus."

I have never made it a secret that I am an Obama supporter. I come from a long line of Democrats. I have an uncle who was registered with the Republican party (much to the dismay of family members!) and has since denounced that party due to the strife and political practices that had taken place over the past eight or so years.

I get tired of everyone blaming Obama for our current state-- we got ourselves into this mess and it didn't occur overnight. Business practices and the economy as a whole took years of downward spiral to finally collapse...so why are people ready to air their "disapproval" ratings?? It's because things haven't "magically" and miraculously been fixed in the nine or so months since Obama was inaugurated...Has it occurred to people that it can takes years to build what's fallen??

Four months 'til Christmas

Can anyone really believe that we are exactly four months away from Christmas? It may sound cliche, but I truly understand the meaning "time flies."

I feel very accomplished and grateful for what I've been given this year. In this horrendous period of economic strife, my husband and I not only have managed to keep our jobs but have been able to get married and buy a home.

I know the weak economy has left many with much less than what they had before. Jobs have been lost, homes have been foreclosed upon, there has been much strife.

...but I urge you - have faith! There are opportunities out there, but they won't just drop in your lap. Great rewards can be found when you are willing to put in the dedication, time and effort.

Pay attention to those around you - listen closely and participate...form strong network bonds and friendships. Each person who's been brought into your life is there for a purpose-- many of whom will help build you up when you're down, many of whom you will help build up when they are down.

In the economic downturn our society has witnessed, let us not forget humble truths of humanity and practice kindness towards one another. We're all struggling, in one way or another.

I have been planning a fun-filled evening out with friends to celebrate my Bachelorette. It would be a low-key but fun evening out with friends to celebrate my impending marriage and yes, a few libations would be involved. I set a date for said outing weeks ago and have looked forward to it, even creating a "Facebook" event to invite friends that I don't always get to speak to on a semi-daily basis.

RSVPs were returned, guests confirmed and it seemed as though the evening was set to be fun and memorable! So, now 6 days from the big "outing," of course in the grand scheme of luck, I have a bacterial infection that has now required antibiotics--- so I can't have a sip of a margarita or even a cosmo...

So, after the weeks of planning, excitement and anticipation of going out for my Bachelorette party, I have now decided to postpone my outing of fun, trading it in for a date with some meds. Do I need alcohol to have fun? No -- but would it be fun to be the only sober one at my own Bachelorette party? Definitely not.

Reading newspapers and watching the news today can be downright disheartening. News of the layoffs, bankruptcies and downward spiral of business pervade our everyday lives in this weak economy.

It is important now to stress how working for yourself can keep you virtually "recession-free." Many companies are giving little to no warning before sending loyal employees on their way after years of good service...so with this in mind, wouldn't you rather work for yourself to gain the benefits and the better life for you and your family.

When working for yourself, there won't be any worries of being fired from your company -- you ARE the company! Plus, this is an excellent time to bring the information to others who can work for themselves as well. They will benefit and in turn, you will benefit from bringing them onboard.

There is good reason for the fact that companies like PPL are absolutely thriving while other companies are dwindling in this economy...think about it.

Happy Friday!! I received this info recently from a colleague and really wanted to share it!

~~There are currently over 3000 network marketing companies, give or take a few. Every one bills itself as the hottest new company and the best opportunity. If you are an active networker, you will be approached to join some of these other companies.

It will be very tempting for both you and your downline to jump over to the greener pastures. I can tell you that in most cases that would be a tragic mistake, because in another couple months another "best in the world" company will come along that looks even better. You will spend all your time getting started, which is the toughest phase of building a network...

If you are with a company that has been in business more than 2 years; is financially sound; has professional looking marketing and training materials; is shipping products and paying commissions consistently; and has a reputable management team; then you are with a solid company.~~

So my advice to all of you out there who may be struggling: tough it out!! Don't give up or just try to "hop" to another opportunity based on what you see from the outside looking in...work with your upline to analyze what you are doing and if it is or is not working for you.

Analyze your prospecting skills/presentations and their effectiveness. We are seeing a time in our lives that hopefully our children will never have to experience. The government and the people of America have all made many poor decisions, and now our economy is tanking. People who once thought they were secure are not. We ALL need to get focused right away on building our businesses before it gets to a point where some could lose everything.

I strongly encourage us all to use our opportunity as a saving vehicle. Everyone now needs a business that they can count on with great cash flow and profitability. In my company, you can make money daily. And due to the economy, the investment cost is only $49. During these times and under these circumstances, it is your responsibility to keep those around you informed of alternative ways to earn income (i.e your business opportunity). Many feel hesitant when showing the opportunity to a friend or loved one for fear of ridicule - do NOT prejudge! The person whom you assumed would hate the idea could become your most successful recruit!

Do not hold back from sharing your opportunity with others, especially in times when extra money is essential to a family's budget...it could be the best decision you've ever made, for yourself and for your loved one.

Hello all!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Many network marketers out there are able to work their own hours from home, so the "holiday" never really ends!

I hope everyone is staying motivated and getting ready to "kick it into high gear" for the end of summer. I have a few of the following suggestions:

~Listen to a personal development/training CD at least thirty minutes per day (preferably in the morning hours). If it's multiple discs, listen to a section a day. Repeat this once a week for the next four weeks. Repetition=Retention - you will take away new "nuggets" of knowledge each time you listen, not to mention it's an excellent way to set the tone for your day!

~Commit to exposing your business opportunity, product or service to at least two people per day - this can be through a sizzle call, presentation, brochure, magazine or other third party tool. Committing to a number of exposures will increase your success rate!

~Write down your Goal -- this is crucial! You HAVE to have your goal in writing. You must be able to look at it each and every single day...let it be your reminder, let it be your guide. IT is why you are in this business.

~Always look to your upline support for assistance. Greater mistakes are made when one tries to go at something alone...if you do not know how to handle a paperwork issue, marketing tool, call, etc. ASK! Your upline support is there to guide and assist you - utilize this and let their knowledge help you! You don't want your business to suffer an unnecessary setback due to a mistake in paperwork or other easily avoided problems.

"I'll Do It Tomorrow..."

"ONE CRITICAL DAY is all you need to turn any 'what if' in your life into what IS." - Jim Rohn

One mistake I have seen repeatedly in this business is what I like to call the "I'll Do It Tomorrow" syndrome. Take an otherwise motivated individual who just happens to be very busy in their daily routine and decides to forego their "business" routine of exposures for the day. "I'll talk to two people tomorrow," they internally reason, thinking it will be harmless to simply put this off until tomorrow. Wrong.

Days often turn to weeks and weeks turn to months - then, six months later, the individual is disheartened and angry and blames the business because it did not work the way they wanted it to. Your commitment to your business MUST be solid - it cannot be something to just "do tomorrow." Procrastination is one of the top killers to any network marketer's career. Persistency and Consistency are absolutely KEY to your success in this industry. You cannot do this business when you feel like it and expect success!

You have to treat this like a business. If you currently have another job, think of the responsibilities and commitments that you have had to make to keep your job and/or receive promotions -- you cannot show up "when you feel like it" and expect to be successful. Football players cannot practice once a week or once a month to score that winning touchdown. Every day -- that must be your commitment!

Don't put off 'til tomorrow what you need to do today...your business will depend on it. Remember - you never know who you may meet. You could walk into the coffee shop and stand next to the future top earner for your company, you just won't know it until you take action!

I have received some interesting questions from readers inquiring about how I operate my home business.

I have a simple system in place: Any prospects that visit my website and leave their contact information will most certainly get a call back within 24 hours. HOWEVER, that call is the crucial point.

During that call back, I conduct a short five minute interview. If they are someone I would like to work with, I discuss the next step in the process. I am VERY selective in who I choose to bring in my organization, simply because they have to want to be a success -

I only consider serious, motivated individuals who truly want to generate a massive income over the next twelve months. Others need not apply. It's that simple! It's a proven system that has served me well!

This is what it's all about!!

It's only Tuesday, but I'm already having one of those weeks that reaffirms,"this is what it's all about!!"

My company has a great promo going right now, the numbers are up (significantly), I'm getting paid, my business is growing more and more every day and most importantly, I have been able to share this with others in the process...more and more people are getting the opportunity to take a firm hold on their careers and secure their financial futures. What an awesome gift!

I speak with so many people who want to work their business part-time, which I always say is a terrific way to start! You can make such a great income and your network marketing business won't interfere with any other occupations or obligations you may have...however, it is always great to watch the look of pure fascination come across a person's face when they realize they have actually raked in more money doing this PART-TIME than they did working full-time at their JOB!

I never get tired of seeing people with such "fresh-faced" expressions. Faces with no tell-tale signs of worry or struggle over finances or exponentially growing debt. Faces with no signs of dread of going to a low paying, unsatsifying job, or having to miss their child's birthday party due to a work obligation...These people have the time and money to do what they want, when they want -- THIS is what it's all about!! :)

Have a wonderful day and remember all of this, from wherever you may be-- if you are at home, at your work desk, or at a coffee shop with your laptop...you can have WHAT you want, WHEN you want it -- the opportunity is out there...you just have to seize it!

A growing problem you can't afford to ignore

Report of findings from the Identity Theft Resource Center.

~More than one-half (57%) of the 2007 sample reported their personal information had been used to open a new line of credit in their name.

~In 2007, 62% of respondents reported thieves had committed financial crimes that resulted in warrants being issued in the victim’s name, more than 2 ½ times higher than in 2006.

~In reference to new accounts, respondents spent an average of $1,865.27 in out-of-pocket expenses for damage compared to $1,342 in 2006.

~As in previous years, credit issuers, utility companies and collection agencies continue to rate poorly in their handling of identity theft victims.

~Victims reported a number of additional problems including: increases in insurance rates, current credit card interest rates and criminal records not being cleared. The inability to get credit resonated with the majority of respondents (64%).

In addition, 53% have collection agencies still calling, 27% had credit cards cancelled (even though the accounts were being properly maintained), 18% said it affected their ability to get a job, and 14% reported tenancy issues.

-- This is only going to be a continuing concern and it won't get better before it gets worse.

Many of you may ask, 'If you have been in the business for awhile and you've attended the training and have been successful, why would you need to go again?'

The answer is simple: You MUST get "refreshers" in your education of your business, regardless of your level of accomplishment. Beginners and veterans all stand to gain from a training session, convention, corporate event or listening to a guest speaker. You will be surprised how much new information you can take away from a session you assumed would be mostly the same!

DO get into the habit of furthering your education of your network marketing business.

I can assure you, there were people in the training who have been in my business for over ten years (and have seen much success, mind you)...they just know that continued education is important, and that's a great part of why they have seen so much success!

So, for those of you who haven't checked it out, please take a look at the offerings over at Success University - this is critical to personal development and the development of your business as a whole.

Many of you have done your research on several different companies and still remain "on the fence" about joining a particular organization. My one question to you is this:

Let's say you first looked at an opportunity two months ago. You've done research and reading and considered and asked questions, but never really took action.

You need to seriously ask yourself the following question: "Am I any better off today than I was two months ago?"

If not, can you afford to say the same another two months from now? six months from now? two years from now?

DO NOT get into the habit of waiting for great things to happen. You must take action! Many opportunities (such as my company) run special promotions to help you started that provide a low investment fee and your upline can help you right away!

Then, you're off and running- suddenly, you're making money before you even realize what just happened! You didn't have time to wonder or worry, you just took action and the result paid off!

Business vs. Hobby

I have gotten one particular compliment several times which I am very proud of -- it has been commented that the business terms and concepts in this blog are simple and easy to understand...I have achieved my goal!!

I set out to create a blog to outline basic principles of network marketing and to show that the industry is at it's core, simple and easy to understand! There are plenty of people out there who try to complicate a system, only bringing about more confusion for themselves and their downline. However, it does not have to be that way!

Network marketing is the Great Equalizer in today's business world. You do NOT need a business and marketing degree to be a success in MLM, you do NOT need to come from a certain background or have a certain amount of capital to start up (as you would in opening a traditional business). However, I often think that a low start up cost can be both a strength and a weakness.

Many are able to get involved easily because of the low investment (they view it as low risk) involved with network marketing. However, this can often be someone's downfall. Some of these individuals may not try very hard to even work the business and are able to almost justify to themselves, 'if it doesn't work, I didn't waste too much money.' So, they have essentially given up before they even started!

Treat your business in the same manner you would if you had invested $500,000 into it -- you can bet that if you had invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into starting your own business, you would take the initiative to go to whatever trainings, briefings or events that would be productive and educational for you as a business owner. You would also be anxiously getting the word out about your business, instead of cowering in shame and fear of admitting you are even in this business (yes, some actually do this because of the unfortunate and unfounded reputation network marketing can often get in the mainstream).

Stand tall and be proud of the company that you represent - you are sharing information on a valuable product/service and opportunity, there is no shame in that!

Work your business and treat it like a business NOT a hobby --

A hobby is "I can do it whenever I want and still get the same results." Business is "I need to work this as much as possible and commit to consistency to get positive results."

You're Either Building Someone Else's Dream or Your Own..

This quote from the wonderful Jeff Olsen holds so much truth. In our daily lives, many of us are working for another business owner, helping this person to make his company an even bigger success. While this is all fine and good, wouldn't you rather work to build your own business and achieve your dreams? A good employee may see a raise or occasional bonus...but that employee will never see the income of the business owner.

One will NEVER make the income of a business owner as long as you are working for someone else. You will be working on their terms, their schedule and when all is said and done, they will pay you what they think you are worth (which is often lower than what we feel we are worth!) --

Now, becoming a real business owner takes time and hard work. No one said it would be easy and that residual income and time freedom would just magically fall in your lap - a legitimate and legal business opportunity just does not work that way.

So, if one is uncomfortable with working harder or taking responsibility, they may be better suited to work for someone else. However, for those sharp individuals out there who are ambitious, motivated self-starters who want to work for themselves, the opportunity is there for you! You just have to take it!!

Learn, Teach and Repeat!

I first want to say how wonderful the response has been to the survey! It has given me such great insight into reader's thoughts, motivations and general feelings towards network marketing. Thanks everyone!! For those of you who have not done so, please answer the survey questions featured in yesterday's entry for a chance to win 1 of 5 FREE business packages from me!

I know that I have discussed this topic several times now, but that is the entire point of the entry: repetition!! Repetition and duplication are two key elements in network marketing that cannot be overlooked. An associate goes through the process of attending briefings and trainings where they hear similar information. However, the importance of this repetition is that they can take away the same message in different ways each time they hear it.

Have you ever read a book and decided to read the same book again a few years later only now it seems to mean something different? It's because we all carry with us our thoughts, feelings and life experiences. Things happen in our lives that make us process information in different ways, even if the information itself is the same.

This can be readily applied to network marketing and the information received at briefings and trainings. It will absolutely energize you to hear this information in a new light!

Repeating the process/system and showing how easily duplicated it is can ensure your team that no one has to be a bonafide salesperson to be a success. Network marketing is something that all of us do everyday, and some of us may not even know it. It is merely sharing information with others about a product or service we find of value. Have you recommended a movie to a friend? How about an energy drink? These are all examples of network marketing! The only difference is, you didn't get paid a commission when that friend of your's walked up to the ticket booth at the theater to buy movie tickets for his entire family...

Learning the system, teaching the EXACT same system to others and repeating as your organization grows - that's it! This law of duplication is why it is so essential that no one try to throw in their own version or "reinvent the wheel." The second someone makes a change to a proven system, it becomes a little less duplicatable. Eventually, people get discouraged and have amended a system to where it is barely recognizable let alone able to be duplicated.

So, again for the sake of the subject of this entry: Stick with the system that's been proven with your company, teach and repeat!!

Hesitance and Objections

In this afternoon's blog entry, we will be discussing hesitance and objections.

As I have previously stated in my e-book and blog entries, many network marketers (I am willing to bank on the word ‘most’) will be met with a certain level of skepticism when first approaching someone with a product and/or opportunity. Of course, the “Heavy Hitters” will already have that huge income that speaks volumes itself and to people who know him, it’s difficult to be skeptical about that!

…but what about those new associates who are starting from the beginning? They may not have the large incomes or huge down-line yet – how can they prove themselves? It has been done and you can do it too!!

Take a look at your company—even the #1 income earner Millionaires had a very first day starting from scratch…everyone has to begin at some point…it’s just where you allow yourself to go from there—that’s what determines your success. Your attitude is definitely the first component that will determine how successful you may become because if you don’t believe in yourself, your company and what you’re offering, how do you expect anyone else to? That is why you must never be hesitant when discussing your opportunity…what could be shyness or nerves may come across to a prospect as if you are trying to hide something. Be sure of your product and confident of it’s value and that will be evident to your prospects. Your excitement will prove your dedication to your business!

Jeff Olsen, a wonderful mentor and speaker who has been very successful with my company cited a concept from German philosopher Arthur Schoepenhauer –

“Truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. And lastly, it is accepted as self-evident”

Truth and opportunity can both be readily applied in the above statement – Your opportunity may very well be scrutinized and ridiculed by those outside the business who may not care to understand what you are offering. There will be objections: Many may violently oppose the very idea of your service or business - some may have had negative experiences with other network marketing companies or once had a bad experience with something related to your product or service…is it fair for you to be judged from one’s previous experiences? Of course not – but unfortunately, it’s an occurrence all too common in this industry and in general business.

Finally, the truth about a product or service will become self-evident. Companies will thrive or they will fail – all will be revealed and if your company is reputable and here to stay with a valuable service, you have nothing to worry about! The former skeptics will be coming to you in droves, seeing a valid need for what you have to offer!

That third element alone is why it is imperative to not give up…you may be surprised to find that some who first declined your opportunity may come to see it’s true value and re-evaluate their decision…for some, it just takes time. Timing in this industry is huge – it has to be the right time for the person and the right time and need in the marketplace for your product or service.

I joined my company at a time that I needed a change. I knew that I wanted to build a business to be a stay at home mother – the time was right for me and luckily, there is a great need for the service my company offers – I am with an established company that offers a wonderful, valuable service that has benefited people all over the world. The service and its value have become self-evident to many…

Fact or Fiction - Scheme or the Real Deal?

I have gotten numerous questions from readers and many have had the same concern when searching for a network marketing company: How do I definitively know this is a legitimate service and company??

This is a very important question to ask before you ever sign on the dotted line with any company...because remember, once you are an associate, you are representing this company and it's integrity. No one wants to join a sinking ship or sign their name to join a fraudulent business.

The most important way to discover whether a company is legitimate is research through CREDIBLE sources. I stress this word and place great emphasis on it because it can be very tricky -- random posts, forums and message boards ARE NOT credible. Even websites cannot be considered the final word on a company or it's reputation. I wouldn't even ask you to take MY word for it -- I would encourage you to do independent research to back up what I say about something...however, again, I stress that you look to ethical, professional and un-biased resources that have proven their credibility.

Most official websites or .gov websites are objective and factual. However, I have found a double edge sword with newspaper articles...newspapers are sold through sensationalism and negative press. In other words, you rarely hear good facts about a company in the press-- but the press will be the first to print the slightest doubt of a company, even if the doubts turn out to be unfounded.

Microsoft, one of the largest and most successful companies in the world has had countless negative articles and lawsuits placed against them...but that doesn't stop people from buying computer programs...catch my drift??

In terms of pyramid schemes, this is very tricky and careful research must be done to distinguish scheme from the real deal-- the business practices of 'pyramid scheme' companies obviously cannot be easily tracked because that information is rarely printed for public view (as it is ILLEGAL). Also, companies that have not been in existence for very long can be considered a risk in which careful and decisive research is needed due to the lack of credible information available...

My company, for example, has been in existence for over 35 years is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange -- in my opinion, you cannot go wrong with a NYSE company. Their finances and business practices are carefully monitored by the Securities & Exchanges Commission...In essence, a NYSE company is an 'open book' or a 'glass house.' Plus, not just any company can become a part of the New York Stock Exchange -a company must be invited to join: a major accompishment in and of itself!

The SEC makes it nearly impossible for a company to be involved with any illegal business practices through closely monitoring all components of the corporation, it's selling and business practices as all are public record.

My company in particular, also has endorsements from the American Bar Association, the President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and four Attorney Generals....so with endorsements from credible officials, you can rest assured that you are joining a legitimate company.

So, in closing, my suggestions are to do careful research and align yourself with a credible company that has public record of their business practices. If they don't have anything to hide, then they are in compliance and you won't have to worry about falling victim to a pyramid scheme.

Excitement

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is in preparation for a great week!!

Many may be dreading that inevitable Monday morning back to their J-O-B...so just imagine if the only responsibility you had was walking across the hall in your PJ's and slippers to your home office to make phone calls ?? Oh yeah -- and I should tell you that this could happen at 7AM or 10AM or even in the afternoon...it would be up to you!! You would no longer be working on someone else's schedule!

Sounds tempting huh??

Most would agree that this sounds like an excellent lifestyle but think that this can only really happen for the famous...but it could happen to you too! It's a real reason to be excited about the opportunity you have been given!

Network marketers everywhere are putting in resignations to their 'day jobs' because they have built organizations and sold products in their business that can now be done from the comfort of their own home...

I believe there are two things that hold an individual back from this opportunity and potential success -- skepticism and a lack of confidence. 'Is this for real?' is one common question brought up when such large income numbers are brought out -- skepticism is honestly understandable in today's society of scams and schemes...but I can tell you specifically, for my company, IT IS REAL! You can research companies through legitimate sources and if they have an opportunity...look into it. I had to try the opportunity with mine because I didn't want to wonder 'what if it works and I never get to find out?' -- no one wants to be handed an opportunity like that and decline it!

A question for you athletic individuals out there: Would you turn down a chance to compete in the Olympics if it would require work and dedication on your part but could ensure you a lifetime of accomplishment if you succeeded?

Work + Dedication + Tenacity = Success

A lack of confidence may stem from thoughts of "I can't do that," "I'm not good with sales" or other such reasons...but those reasons can be dispelled -- that's the beauty of this industry!! Through personal development, individuals can gain that 'posture' that is necessary in having confidence in your company, product and most importantly, yourself. Sales doesn't even have to really enter the equation at that point -- you're just excited and sharing information with someone...or perhaps, you are just inviting someone over to your home and pressing "PLAY" on the DVD player or handing them a magazine and calling to follow up with them -- you aren't even having to give a sales pitch or presentation. Marketing tools are there to do the work for you and your upline can fill in the blanks!

Sharing, NOT selling and exuding confidence in what you believe in can go a long way in this industry...and you can do it. You just have to have dedication, motivation, tenacity and a willingness to change your current financial state.

So, instead of being one of the millions who spend their Sunday evening dreading that Monday morning return to work - set your sights on building your own business so that you can welcome Monday morning with excitement and open arms because you are in charge of your time, your money and your life....you'll be forever glad that you did!

One phrase to succeed...

As we get ready to roll into another weekend, I want to leave you with some thoughts to ponder...

Upon viewing many "business opportunity" links, I have come across a significant number of "this URL does not exist." This most likely means that the associate gave up on their business and cancelled their website...but one has to wonder, how many other people besides myself have since tried to look at that site and gotten the same error message?

My point is that your key to success can be found in one simple phrase: JUST DON'T QUIT! You never know who you may meet who will be interested in your product, service or opportunity, everyday can bring new people into our lives, new challenges and new success and accomplishments!

You just cannot quit your network marketing business -- I heard one story within my company that was utterly amazing...

About 10 years ago, a gentleman (we'll call him James) met another man (we'll call him Greg). James and Greg were discussing business opportunities and James mentioned that he was with XYZ company. Greg seemed pretty interested and James was able to use a third party marketing tool which resulted in Greg joining the business. James continued on with his business, but after a couple of months, things slowed down...Greg had some production but nothing to break records.
James got discouraged with his downline and the business itself and ended up quitting...

Well today, Greg (that new recruit from a decade ago) now earns upwards of $250,000 a year with the same company and has a large organization of successful downline associates...Greg will join the company's Millionaire Club within the year...James would already be a millionaire, most likely from Greg's efforts alone. However, he chose to quit when things got rough and thus forfeited his chance of ever seeing the income of that eventual success...

So the moral of the story is: DON'T QUIT! There will be good days, bad days, good weeks, bad weeks, and so on...but you have to remember the good days to get you through the bad ones! If you are new, listen to the success stories in your company and let that be your driving force...make it your goal to join that group of successful professionals who endorse your company with their personal testimonials. They could do it, so can you!

Making Your Presence Known

For those entrepreneurs and internet marketers out there who want to make their internet presence known on a larger scale, congratulations, you now have more options available than ever before!

Thanks to the internet, you can now reach the international marketplace with your business, opportunity, product or service.

There are a number of traffic exchange websites that you will find simply by going to Google. Many of these offer free as well as paid memberships for the service that drives traffic to your site. Submitting your URL to search engines is a great first start, however, with the massive amount of sites on the net today, your's could get lost in the search result shuffle...don't limit yourself to this one strategy.

There are ways to improve your page ranking and site popularity through using specific keywords that will be picked up through the search engines and resulting in higher results through more traffic to the site. How to drive more traffic? I'll give you a few pointers below -

Programs such as Google AdWords are highly regarded and popular for the Pay-Per-Click advertising. You will not have to pay unless someone clicks on your ad -- with this program, there's no risk of losing your money posting an ad that is overlooked...you only pay if your site was viewed!

One that I will specifically plug here is Link Referral.com. This program offers free as well as premium (paid) memberships. The best way to increase your website traffic and ranking in your designated category is through visiting and reviewing other sites. You can also participate in the forums on a number of topics. After twenty four hours, your counter will reset and you can will need to continue visiting and reviewing other sites to maintain or increase your traffic and ranking. Another great part is that you have others reviewing your site and posting feedback for you! So, in one site, you're getting more traffic and feedback on your site.
This is a great site for those who are willing to put in the time to do their part in viewing and reviewing sites...

Another great site is Clixsense. This website offers an affiliate program as well as compensation for viewing ads and websites. They also host advertising for as little as $5.50 and to give you an idea of the massive scale of viewers you could be reaching through this site: the last recorded site counter of page views was at 9,288,608 for the last 30 days...low risk with big potential! Plus, you can make extra money while you're there!

Blogs specifically have a number of exchanges, ranking and review websites - please see the sidebar on the left side of this blog for a short list of advertised blog sites.

Google Adsense is one way to make money from advertising to boost your own advertising budget! Post Google ads on your website and it will track the number of clicks, compensating you for it! However, you cannot click on your own links or directly request others to click on the ads. Failure to comply with this policy can result in losing your Google Adsense account and any compensation...so don't do it!!

Do As I Say AND As I Do -

The old adage states, "Do as I say, not as I do." However, in network marketing the exact opposite is true. A new recruit needs to do as an upline says and do what the upline does!

It is essential for a recruiter to put in place a duplicatable system for new recruits to follow to a tee. It should be a simple, easy to use system that anyone can do -- such as handing out magazines or playing a DVD. Many teams have already devised a series of techniques that are detailed in the training process. This is IMPERATIVE to the success of a new associate.

In the recruiting process, your prospects will be watching closely, even before they join the business. They may be asking themselves, "can I do what this person is doing?" -- That one observation can make or break their decision to join you in your business, so make sure the answer to that is a resounding "YES!"

Keeping it simple through home presentations, business briefings and third party marketing tools can ensure that each associate has a fair and even playing field in which to begin their business endeavor. Network Marketing (MLM) is an industry that does not require prior sales experience to be a success - in fact, many people who have proclaimed that they were not 'salesman' types, have made a wonderful career in the MLM industry. This is made possible through these systems that are easy to follow and easy to duplicate. Therefore, they are easy to teach -- and so the process of recruiting and training to duplicate continues...

Do NOT try to reinvent the wheel - this will only confuse your recruits and can set back your own learning curve, thus, potentially throwing your own business off track -- not worth it! If you are having particular issues with a recruiting tool or practice, talk it over with your upline -- but do not try to go off on your own tangent...this will only serve to frustrate you and hinder your success and effort.

Networking + Marketing

As most of you know, network marketing is at it's very core, the process of moving products or services. Building organizations should be regarded as very essential to long-term success, however, a legitimate company will always want to place emphasis foremost on the product or service offered and not the compensation plan.

"Networking" generally means friends telling friends or meeting other "like minded" individuals with whom you can build relationships. I believe that in this business, relationships may be formed in various ways, through personal interaction as well as technological interaction.

However, for the majority of success stories, a personal bond must be formed to avoid attrition (having an individual quit your business or cancel a sale). This personal bond is best achieved through in-person communication. However, many have forged successful business relationships via telephone if one lives in another area. The key is consistency -- if you recruit a new associate in another area, take responsibility for getting training tools and material to that individual and keeping in constant contact with them to check on their progress...you don't want to throw someone into the network marketing world unprepared and "blind" to the business practices - this is the quickest way to get someone to become discouraged and quit.

Many people ask, 'is it possible to build a network marketing business exclusively on the internet?' The jury is still out on this one -- many swear that it will never work and others claimed they have achieved success with it...in my opinion, limiting yourself to one medium in network marketing (whatever that medium may be) may do you a great disservice in the long run.

It just makes sense...

Today's economy has sent many working class people into a veritable panic. That corporate job that once seemed so profitable with an inevitable yearly raise or bonus has been a no-show this year, production levels and everything from fuel to food keeps getting more expensive!

The incredible reality is that while corporations are struggling to stay afloat, many companies with direct selling or network marketing are absolutely flourishing! These associates are not concerned with the rising cost of fuel because they haven't seen a cut in their income, they've seen a raise! Why is that, you ask? They control their effort which directly controls their own income! This economic time is the perfect setting for recruiting because everyone wants to find a way to make more money!

Think about it this way, in the corporate world, you will be getting paid the same salary for the year if you come to work everyday and complete your tasks. You may be blessed with a generous company or boss that gives you a raise or an occasional bonus...however, that is completely their decision based on company numbers as well as the economic shift...many may go from having a nice bonus to being laid off the next month with the huge downsizing that is currently occurring in Corporate America...you may not be getting a company check anymore but that car you're driving still needs to be paid and so do those credit card bills!

In network marketing, you are working for yourself and determining your own income! The only decision maker for your financial future will be you -- no more asking others for raises and hoping they will understand and identify with your reasons for needing one...

The sad and cold truth is that many companies, bosses, "powers that be", etc. do not really care why you may want or need a raise...they just see more money coming out of the company to cover this expense. Why do you want to put control of your financial future in the hands of someone else??

Quoting best-selling financial author, Robert Allen: "If you saw a car
load of your family, friends and anybody else heading towards a bridge
that is washed out, would you let them keep going, or would you tell them about
the path they don't know about where the bridge is still there (and twice the
size of the first)?"

This is directly related to an earlier entry in why seasoned network marketers understand that we don't need prospects, they need us! They need to be told that there is an alternative to the way of living and working in Corporate America where complete financial insecurity can ensue at any moment.

So, the next time you feel hesitant in sharing your opportunity with a friend, remember, you are doing them a favor -- you are giving them information to empower them and an opportunity that can help them reap the rewards for years to come!

The Conscious Shock

There is often a time when prospecting, that you may utilize a technique known as the Conscious Shock. This is simply a large dollar amount or other statistic that tends to get a listener to really pay attention = a conscious shock to their system to sit up and take notice.

"If you could work part-time from home with a reputable company that can help you build a foundation to legally and ethically earn an income of $10,000, $20,000 or even $50,000 a month, would that be something you would be interested in?"

This is a catch phrase that many would listen to because the objections have already been addressed -- you have given the information that the company is reputable and legitimate, there is nothing illegal going on and you've given a factual income amount that makes most stop to at least listen to what you have to say.

In my company, every 28 days an Associate becomes a millionaire - plain and simple. This is a true reported statistic for my company and really gets the attention of others to listen up -- how many other companies can even say they have made an employee a millionaire ?? That's actually one of the goals of my company's founder! He wants to have the company that has produced the most millionaire marketing associates and he's well on his way to reaching that goal!

Many may feel inclined to not mention the high dollar amount, fearing that this will make many feel skeptical. However, one should fight the urge to NOT mention this amount. As long as it has been reported with your company as a factual income amount that is possible to be earned within the company, you need to tell your prospect. It could be the one thing that drives their motivation to join you and to one day become of one those top earners!

In many cases, your upline/mentor may provide you with a contact number of a person within your company who is earning such figures and can speak directly with your prospect if necessary...or your mentor may already be earning that income now and can speak with your prospect.

Either way, it is important to not leave out information to give that prospect the "conscious" shock they may need -- it could be the difference between financial independence and a lifetime of living under someone else's thumb.

You can't help those who won't help themselves...

This morning we will be discussing how to help those members of your team who are not producing to their full potential. Whether it be a lack of personal sales, recruits or both, it is important to review what the associate is doing or saying and why it does not appear to be effective.

In many cases, a coachable associate may just need some guidance in the right direction on how to prospect...they may need to get out and meet more people or brainstorm to expand their warm market list. However, on occasion, you will recruit a downline member who doesn't produce, and doesn't seem to care. They may respond to inquiry of their lack of production with a simple, "I didn't have the time." This should be a huge red flag for the upline!

If an associate has already given up on their business and isn't blocking out a few hours (or even a few minutes a week) to grow their business, sadly, very little can be done for them. (NOTE: In many businesses, my own included, one 10-15 minute presentation can obtain a signup or a membership sale...and you can receive income for years from that sole 15 minute effort -- so time should NEVER be an excuse)

Sure, an upline could exhaust all energy and effort trying to drag this unmotivated associate across the finish line, but what exactly would be the point?

Clearly, the associate is not dedicated to the business and the upline would be spending time and energy that could be better utilized working with the associates who are willing to work to grow on their own...

So my advice this morning is this: support and guide the willing associates (the coachable ones who are willing to listen and learn), do not spend (or waste) your time babysitting a recruit who lacks the willingness to take steps to produce up to their potential.

This is why it is so important to "sort" and not "convince" in this business. You want to select the prospects who already see an opportunity for themselves and do not need to be convinced multiple times of the value -- the ones you have to "convince" 5 or 6 different times often become the ones you have to babysit...

Are you disheartened by your downline's lack of production? Has it been a slow month for you as a recruiter or distributor? There are inevitable 'slow' times in any business in the marketplace whether it be network marketing, small business or even at the corporate level. This economic climate has caused many huge companies to downsize, so everyone is literally feeling the crunch!

Don't let this time be your downfall! Don't let a slower production month cause you to veer off course into a "business depression". Stay calm and focused and just have faith-- things will pick up! You do not want a slower time to determine the future of your entire business! Just continue onward, maintaining your daily activities and work regimes-- it should be business as usual! Remember the law of averages -- There are 4 "aces" in every deck of cards, you just have to discover where in the deck they may be found!! You cannot make a "3" or a "7" into "Aces", it's just not possible!

Another important reminder in slower times is to keep the positive mindset flowing through your downline. This can be readily accomplished through regular encouragement and support --keep in regular contact to track their progress, praise them on their successes and encourage them not to give up on their temporary setbacks (as far as I am concerned, there are NO failures - there are only temporary setbacks). Your downline will look to you in tough times and if they think you are down, they will be down too...you do NOT want this! The sake of your business depends on your ability to remain optimistic and teach others to do the same!

Just stress the importance of attending weekly briefings and trainings -- ensure that the members of your team are properly equipped to produce (so that lack of production is not due to lack of training or skill) and keep your associates fine-tuned on their routines and work habits, even in slower times...your team will be that much better off when things pick up again!!

Through my experience with my network marketing company, I cannot stress enough how much my outlook has changed. Not just my outlook on finances, but my life in general. This business is about so much more than making money or even helping people: It’s about personal development. Personal development is not just a notion that ends at the conclusion of your formative years – it’s an ongoing process that will take you on a journey to discover who you are and what you really want in life.

I started my business initially because I know that someday, I want to be a stay at home mother. My fiancé works hard and is an excellent provider, however, when the time comes, I want to be able to contribute to my family’s income while raising my children. This business has made that possible for so many people-- so I thought immediately, why couldn’t this happen for me? What do I really have to lose from trying vs. what could I lose if I don’t try it and it works? I didn’t want to live with that kind of regret.

This business has become even more to me now. Through the books I have read and the training sessions I have attended, I have received a much-needed boost. I can now manage to approach life’s everyday issues with a more positive mindset. It has truly changed my perspective and has allowed me to become a happier person. I have even managed to come out of my shell more – I am generally a pretty reserved person with people I do not know. However, this endeavor has allowed me to talk with more people, overcome my fear of shyness and even speak in front of groups of people when I’ve been terrified of the very idea! It's very liberating to overcome your fears and see great things happening because of your decision.

Honestly, I had no idea that just making the decision to begin a business would impact me in such a way. I would normally hear about first time/new business owners who have payroll, inventories, tax liabilities and overhead costs that cause them to be more miserable than before (especially in this economic climate). Luckily, I don’t have to worry about those things and I’ve changed for the better (in more ways than one) because of my involvement with this business.

There is no "I" in team...but there is "me"

I have put that title in to make a point that I will get to in just a moment--

In building a team of leaders, the work of several individuals is required to ensure success through leverage for the team as a whole. However, there is a time when each recruiter must stand back and ask themselves a couple of very important questions: "Would I want to be on my own team?" and "Am I providing the best guidance and support to my new recruits?"

A recruiter must be present and very accessible for those first crucial weeks (or in some cases, months) for a new associate. The "newbie" needs to be encouraged, trained, encouraged, motivated, encouraged...get my drift? This can be a tough industry and you don't want a rough start to cause someone to quit before they have even begun!

That's why, in my opinion, it is in the best interest of a recruiter, his/her new recruit and his team as whole, that he choose only a few new individuals to closely work with at a time...some may disagree with this point of view and they are entitled to their own opinion and workstyle.

However, I believe that close attention is imperative in ensuring the success of a new associate. On-going support and guidance is crucial in those first pivotal weeks to get the recruit started in the correct direction....Imagine how difficult and stressful it would be to try to work closely with say, 20 new recruits over the course of 24 hours? Some would be getting stressed and inevitably, others would feel they are getting a lack of quality attention and/or field training.

Please understand, I am not endorsing "babysitting" or "spoon-feeding" recruits. After all, this is a business and no one should be here who isn't willing to work for it. However, through working closely with just a few associates at a time, I believe that a recruiter can actually get them onto the right path and within a few weeks (or possibly a few months) they will feel comfortable to give presentations or call prospects on their own. In the long run, the recruit doesn't feel pushed out on his own too quickly, the recruiter doesn't feel as though he or she has spread himself too thin and everyone ends up more content and thus, more productive and successful!

What is your "Why?"

What is your 'Why?'

Your "Why" can be what makes or breaks your new venture into network marketing.Simply stated, your 'why' is your motivation -- WHY did you begin your business?

The reasons behind your motivation may shift and change as your business progresses -- you may have smaller short-term goals to meet first...however, your ultimate goal should be the final outcome in what you hope to gain from this experience. Do you want to make $10,000 a month? Do you want to retire by age 35? Do you want to be a stay at home parent? You may want any of these -- or all of them...

The "Why" will obviously vary from person to person but everyone has reasons why they would want to get in the business, because NO one wants to live paycheck to paycheck and NO one wants to retire on the 40/40/40 plan (living on 40% of your past income after putting in 40 years of working 40 hours a week). However, sadly in corporate America, that is what individuals are often stuck with. The best question you can ask yourself is, 'if I continue with my job just as I am working now, where will I be in 5 years?'
Some will get a raise, others will be promoted...however, almost NO one will be able to completely walk away from their job forever with more residual income than they ever made before-- but that's the beauty of the network marketing industry.

Many people have put in several years of hard work to build their network marketing business and are able to walk away with a passive residual income that will be able to transfer to children or grandchildren someday-- imagine giving your kids or grandkids the luxury of not worrying about where money for college will come from ?

Of course, the number of years to grow your business is completely subjective: some individuals are a success and "make it" in the industry after a few months, for others it could take a few years. It's all up to you -- it's directly related to amount of time and effort you're willing to put into it -- but wouldn't you rather make the attempt than live your life wondering 'if I had tried that....where would I be now?' What a great industry in which you are actually getting paid what you're really worth! How many industries will pay you the income equal to the amount of hard work and dedication you devote to your job?? -- something to think about and consider if you're looking for a change.

This entry is what I believe to be the absolute key to success in the Network Marketing industry -- A passion for your product or service.

I am so passionate about the service that my company offers. The benefit of the service far outweighs the cost to the individual and when you see true value in a service, it makes you believe in it that much more.

That strong passion and belief is conveyed to everyone I talk with -- I don't have to push it down someone's throat, they can see the value and they can see my excitement. I'm truly excited to be able to help others, that can be a real rarity. That is what truly sets PPL apart from so many other companies out there...everyone can say that they are going to "offer" you something at a great "deal."
Many may not want to admit this -- but $75 cosmetics, vitamins, candles, etc. just don't strike me as getting something at a "good deal"...but that's just me.

Remember, if the value of your service or product far outweighs the amount of money that someone is spending to acquire it, you have real reason to be proud!

Now, for those of you who legitimately want to be a successful network marketer, you can most definitely do it...but you HAVE to be willing to make the effort to change your financial situation. This requires dedication and focus. You can't just expect someone to do everything for you - this is your business. You are a business owner, just fortunately for you, with a networking marketing company (like mine which is the best! ;) ), you don't have to deal with tax liabilities, payroll, inventory and the other facets that owning your own business usually entails!

The great statement made is "you are working for yourself but not by yourself." Use the resources around you such as your directors and the third party marketing tools to ensure your success. It can be done, it has been done and it can happen for you too!

Pride and excitement paired with dedication and motivation will put you on the track to network marketing success!
I'm not going to lie - you will be met with skepticism about any marketing company you choose to work with-- anyone and everyone will try to do "outside research" on your company and they will find good things and bad things (as with any company because everyone is a self-proclaimed critic on the internet) -- but keep in mind, the opinions of others may be saturated with other factors you may not be aware of. For instance, your friend's cousin's sister may have tried your company and called it a "scam" because she paid her sign up fee and sat back waiting....and waiting...and waiting and never got that big check her first month! People actually write negative reviews on companies because they never saw the success that matched stories they have heard...but what they may not tell you is that they really didn't try all that hard either. They expected "something for nothing" and I can promise you, anything out there that declares you will get something for nothing really is a scam.

Yes, please use caution because there ARE scams online, tons of them -- but advise others to do their research on accredited sites, not forums or message boards where random individuals can post whatever they would like about any subject-- that is not a credible source for anything...

Think about this: If people had only heard about Wal-mart via message boards about the Class Action lawsuits that have been filed against them, where would the company be today? -- I even learned that there are various individuals known as "short sellers" who actually benefit from the fall of certain stocks of publicly traded companies-- they aid in the process by posting false negative information about said company in the hopes that it will drive down that company's stock value...and where do they post much of this information? The internet...

These are just some things to think about but definitely do not let this discourage you...I can tell you-- for every two or three out there who allow their skepticism to make their decision, there are others out there who are just as eager as you are to get started!

Helpful tips

Many people can get involved with network marketing and quickly find their niche. Some feel more comfortable talking one-on-one, some enjoy presenting to groups of several people at a time and some don't like either choice. In fact, some may hate either choice with a passion. The paralyzing fear of rejection and the overwhelming pressure to overcome shyness can be enough to cause someone to fiercely shake their head "no" to the very idea of entering the world of network marketing.

Common objections from prospects are "I don't have a background in sales" or "I don't think I would be good at this."

If someone is truly not interested, that is one thing...but the saddest thing to see is someone with the true desire but who lacks the confidence in themselves even though others can see their potential.

So, I'm here to tell you that you CAN overcome your fears of shyness and rejection and that you CAN find your niche - it just may require you to venture into territory that is out of your 'comfort zone.' Know this now and accept it -- think of it as a "necessary evil." We all have to do things in life that are less than comfortable but often, we end up better off for it.

I recently heard a very successful man speak and a statement he made really stuck with me --the following is paraphrased - "People will not find success in their comfort zone because successful people are willing to do what unsuccessful people are not." That made perfect and total sense to me!

The people who never want to take a risk and never want to try something new are usually the people who get "pigeon-holed" into a work or life situation and become defenseless to their own debilitations. One person may stay in the same dead end job for 20 years because of their fear of change...they may have skills that could be very productive in another environment but they are rendered useless in a stagnant atmosphere.

On the other hand, those who are willing to try new ventures, try new marketing tools and try to overcome objections as well as their own shortcomings-- these are the people who will ultimately be successful sheerly due to their own strength and endurance! The tenacity to not give up will keep these people going and then success will follow!

Trust me, I am not an extrovert by nature. I have dealt with shyness and that paralyzing fear of public speaking my entire life....HOWEVER, I have not let that hold me back from pursuing things I want to accomplish. I was pretty shy and reserved in high school but I managed to find my niche in high school theater. I worked hard and after plenty of self talk and training from my director, I managed to snag a lead role in the fall production my senior year. As a result, I ended up having the most lines of any character in the entire play and had to perform multiple showings to an audience of 700+ each time!! The play was a huge success and my confidence level rose from there!

Positive self talk can be wonderful while negative self talk can be downright debilitating. If someone has convinced themselves that they 'CANNOT' do something, then they either have to A)change their mindset to succeed or B)accept their fear for what it is and then live with the regret that they didn't attempt to overcome the force that was holding them back.

Go into something and totally surprise yourself -- don't go in with the attitude "I can't do this," but instead, think "I will NOT fail at this." Remember your mission statement- What is your motivation? What do you hope to gain from this? = and don't give up until your mission is accomplished!

A Different Approach

Since the inception of my membership and association with PPL, my mindset has changed quite a bit. Upon first signing up with the company, the idea of contacting a stranger would literally make my hands shake - just the thought of actually contacting someone (who had actually inquired about the business) absolutely terrified me -- why, do you ask? It's simple-- one word that can literally freeze most people dead in their tracks: REJECTION.

Then, when I really thought about it, what was I so frightened of?? I was scared of having someone listen to what I had to say and tell me that they weren't interested, or worse yet, hang up on me! When I really put it in perspective, I started wondering why that had me so frightened?? If people were not interested, they were not rejecting me as a person - they simply were not open to the opportunity...for now.

Once I changed my mindset, I took on a completely different approach - because it was then that I realized -- in this business, people will need you more than you need them....if you call and speak to someone who isn't interested, so what? There are plenty of other people open and willing to listen and will get as excited as I am. THOSE are the people I want on my team to begin with!

Through my learning curve, I became so much more selective in my recruiting process. I 'sort' through prospects, I do NOT convince --because frankly, I do not need to convince anyone. I have more prospects than I even have time to reach in a day. After all, if I show people an easily duplicated system, marketing tools and how much support they get-- and they STILL do not see the opportunity and how much you can truly gain from it, then I'm not the one who is going to lose in the long run...

I am looking for motivated, sharp and ambitious people-- why would I want any other type of person on the team? In good business, no employer would ever accept less!

Motivation

I have been so happy with PPL-- through this experience, I have met so many nice, wonderful people who remain humble despite the HUGE success they have seen with this company. It's truly amazing -- these were everyday people- some were working multiple jobs just to make ends meet and now, they work from home and have more income than the multiple jobs could have ever provided! Many are able to fulfill their dreams to be stay at home parents or travel the world, actually having more money put into their account than when they left...Some simply just want to make extra income without interfering with their current occupations, this is very common as well.

Perhaps, what I like the most about this company is knowing that through becoming an Associate, I am able to share information that can truly help ANYONE. This is not a product or service that is just for a certain gender or age group...and it's not some insanely expensive product that will never see it's own value...if anything, the quality of this product far outweighs it's own cost! Think about getting tremendous quality for less than a dollar a day -- that's what our company is about!

I have tried other ventures, (selling cosmetics and such) -- while I commend those who do this and have seen success, it just was not for me-- certain companies are only marketing products to certain demographics....so if you're going to market for a product, wouldn't you rather market a product that can be utilized and will benefit EVERYONE?

The reality of Identity Theft

The threat of Identity Theft is a topic that comes up in conversation but many subscribe to the belief, "it really can't happen to me." Why do they think this - what fuels this false sense of security? They may shred their credit card statements or have been told by their banks/credit card companies that the information is secure...

However, what people don't realize is that no matter what you do -- your private and secure information has and will fall into the hands of people who may be less careful than you are.

Recently, it's been reported that Driver's License and Social Security numbers are actually be sold on the black market. Some pay $125 or more for one individual's number...a number that could hold the key to someone's financial wellbeing and could potentially ruin their standing with banks, lenders, realtors...the list goes on and on.

Even more damaging and alarming -- someone can steal another individual's identity and commit a crime in that person's name. The innocent person could be arrested and detained because their identity and secure information matches the information given by the real perpetrator....pretty scary, huh?

Training -

I can't quite put into words how excited I am about Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. I went to a training session last night where I had the pleasure of meeting some of the most sophisticated and professional people. They were incredibly warm and friendly and have seen much success with the company -- and I mean HUGE success!

Despite all of this success, they remain humble and willing to help others -- they even put together training materials for Associates to take home after the presentation...keep in mind, they do not get paid to have these meetings or to give out the numerous copies of materials: they do this because they want to help other people succeed. These trainers are already successful in their own rite and do not have to do any of this for Associates, but instead they choose to do it out of the kindness of their hearts.

I just noticed that my town is listed as one of this week's Yahoo Top Travel destinations -- let tourist season begin! I live in a beautiful coastal town called Wilmington, North Carolina which has a beautiful historic district complete with historic homes and brick streets located just five miles from Wrightsville Beach! You're getting the best of both worlds! Many get upset with the traffic increase due to tourism...but I can't really complain. Tourism brings in an exceptional amount of revenue that helps our local economy.

Perhaps the most ironic thing is the fact that the people who live here and complain about tourists were once 'tourists' here themselves...I was not raised here...I moved here for college but had visited several times beforehand, staying in hotels and 'being a tourist' here.

In fact, I've rarely met people who are actually from this town. Most have migrated here from other areas because this has become such an appealing place to live....it's beautiful and may be spread out geographically but still manages to have a 'small town appeal'.

so, I say -- deal with the traffic and enjoy the summer and enjoy your town. Let the tourist season begin!

Summer Reading 1

Every summer, even while in school, I always wanted to make sure I read at least three novels. I have always loved to read and it really adds to the enjoyment - just sitting by the pool with a cool drink and a good book. I decided to return to an old favorite for my first book of the summer. It's been over 10 years since I read it, so it's like reading it for the first time. The novel is "The Thorn Birds" by Colleen McCullough. It has been described as the 'Australian Gone with the Wind' with its sweeping tale of love and tragedy on the Australian outback.

The story spans from 1915-1969 and chronicles the lives of the Cleary family members. The story begins when the heroine Meggie is only 4 years old. She becomes the centerpiece of the story as she grows older and becomes embroiled in a passionate forbidden star crossed love affair with Father Ralph de Bricassart, a devout priest who has given his life to God.

The novel was a bestseller and even spawned two television mini-series - the best known being 1983's version featuring Rachel Ward and Richard Chamberlain.

The Catholic Church was up in arms over the content of the novel and the implication that a priest would engage in a love affair. However, I think it is a powerful human story of temptation - the internal conflict of trying to overcome human urges, instincts and desires to serve God.

It's a fantastic read and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Years ago, I told a friend about the book and it quickly became one of her favorites as well. So, if you're looking for a sweeping romance with tragedy, humor sorrow and grace, read "The Thorn Birds."

Steps to a new me

I've been pondering over many points of lately. Personal development is always an ongoing process.

The following is a list of goals - steps to a new (and better) me!

I look around and hear people (myself included) complaining about rising food costs, fuel prices and other factors that tend to inconvenience our daily lives...then I feel ashamed that I'm complaining when there are people in other countries who cannot even get a proper meal. Gasoline for a car is a foreign concept to them and not even a necessary worry when they are starving.

The scary reality

I just saw a surveillance video of the 78 year old man who was struck by a vehicle on a busy street in Hartford, Conn. and left there....literally, left there. The driver of the vehicle didn't even stop and quickly turned a corner. Countless people are driving by in cars and walking on nearby sidewalks. It takes at least a couple of minutes for a few people to even start walking over to where the man is clearly lying on the ground. An individual on a motorcyle even circles the scene before riding away. What is wrong with people?? How can one witness an event like this and see a fellow human being clearly in need and do nothing?

This is chilling and leaves me feeling very discouraged for the future of our country at large. One likes to think that communities of individuals band together during a crisis...but what if the crisis only befalls a single person? Will that person be ignored like this poor man? Do some people only band together as a way to cope with their own problem and how a crisis affects them personally?

I'd like to still believe that in general, people are kind and helpful when others are in dire need- but this has me truly re-thinking that philosophy. Human kindness apparently cannot be taken for granted. Apparently, I've overestimated the public's moral compass.

When a friend becomes a victim

At the moment, I am overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness. A friend of mine was a victim of a violent crime over the weekend. It was a completely senseless crime in which a very minor traffic accident escalated to a beating by multiple men – against one. I want to surround myself with optimistic thoughts that it could have been worse and my friend could have died. As a result of the assault, he suffered a broken nose, bruising and minor scrapes and cuts…but what about the bumps and bruises you can’t see? What happens to a person emotionally and mentally when they have been violated? What happens to a person’s spirit and ‘zest for life’ once they become the victim of a violent crime in which they were completely defenseless and helpless? It angers and upsets me to think that such violent offenders walk the streets when in truth they should be behind bars to prevent this from happening again…because it will. A person rarely does this just once in his or her life – if they are prone to violence and aggression, they will continue to use other people as punching bags.

What happened to society? I know there have always been violent people in the world, since the beginning of time - but it is sad to say that people have almost become jaded to hearing about incidents such as robberies and assaults…despite the number of times one hears of these crimes in passing, it’s a frightening wake up call to reality when it happens to someone you know. The victim is no longer a nameless, faceless entity at that point. This victim is your friend.

'Bailing out' the unacceptable

few of my friends from high school are in two music bands in Florida- they offered an interesting bit of their insight that can very much apply to a lot of people out there -- **People want to find something wrong with you. It makes them feel just a little bit better when someone has faults. They begin to create a stigma of something wrong if they can't find anything.

A lot of people are spoiled by their friends and family in a way that they do anything they want no matter the effect it may have on others because they know they will be forgiven/"bailed out". **I found this to be very interesting and sadly, very true. There are so many people who have acted in ways that they knew was appalling....but they continued to do it under the assumption that it was 'forgivable' because they were doing these things to the people they 'loved' when in truth, these should be the last people they would be taking advantage of and treating like crap....it is unacceptable and it shouldn't happen.

So, hug your loved ones a little tighter, kiss them a little longer and always tell them how you feel...but perhaps, most importantly, treat them with the respect and love that they deserve. Don't let them bear the brunt of all of your frustrations and all of your burdens simply because they are 'comfortable'.
